Tomorrow Saturday 28th April is the Rock`n`Roll Dance at Robertsbridge Community College raising funds for Robertsbridge and Rye Bonfire Societies. Tickets are available from Sandie at the Floral Boutique or by contacting Nancy or Pete on 880468 and cost £10 each, if you buy on the door on the evening it will cost you £12.

Robertsbridge Stoolball Club is holding a Quiz Night at Robertsbridge Club tomorrow Saturday 28th starting at 7.30pm. This costs £2 per person with teams of up to max. 5 people. There will be a prize for the winners of each round plus a prize for the overall winning team.

Sunday 29th April will be the day that the Trustees of the Rother Valley Railway will be holding an Open Day and Track Walk over the new bridges between Robertsbridge Station and Northbridge Street. Initially the day starts off at Robertsbridge Hall at 1pm when the Chairman of the Parish Council Mr Simon Longhurst will welcome all. There will then be a power point presentation on the past, present and future of the railway. A track walk will follow this to Northbridge Street prior to the rails being laid in May. There will be refreshments available and the shop will be open, there will be a miniature steam railway operating. This is a good opportunity to hear about the future plans and to witness the construction developments so far.

Robertsbridge Aviation Society Museum will be open on Sunday 29th between 2pm – 5pm. There are various exhibits from the 1st World War up to the present day. The society are always on the look out for memorabilia to do with aviation, so if you have anything please go along and see them on one of their open days. Light refreshments will be available during the afternoon. To help raise money for the up keep of the museum the society collect clothes, books, and rags etc. which you can again take up on an open afternoon or you can have it collected. If you fancy something different for a Sunday afternoon then Robertsbridge Club are holding a music afternoon with the band Decadence Sleeze Excess. This starts from 3pm and is suitable for everyone including children so all family members are welcome. For more information please ring 880673.

Sadly mindless vandals have hit Robertsbridge again. Just when everything has been looking quite good. The cricket club has been the victim this time. Last year it was deemed a necessity to have nets put up at the boundary of the cricket pitch to protect the play equipment and users, which was put in by the Parish Council.

With donations from the parish council and the Bruderhof £3000.00 was raised to enable the cricket club to get the nets and have them erected during the cricket season last year, and they served the purpose very well. Now, just as this season is about to start some vandals have cut a hole about 10m square in the netting and have taken it away. So in effect it has not only been vandalised but stolen as well. This took place on the night of Saturday 21st April. This leaves the cricket club in a predicament. Not knowing yet if the nets will be covered by insurance, but knowing that they have to be repaired or replaced will cost the club dearly out of already small funds. It is such a shame that a small village cricket club that is trying to promote cricket within our community, especially in the younger people of the village, has to be subjected to such vandalism by a minority of people who are set on destroying anything good that is being achieved.

Football: The second team lost their battle against relegation as Herstmonceux II won their final match to go above us. Fund-raising dates for your diary:- Saturday 12th May 2012 is a ‘Gamesday’ starting at the Recreation Ground at 10.30a.m. and then at Robertsbridge Club for a Darts, Pool and Kurling competition in the afternoon with a barbeque and then in the evening the Annual Presentation followed by a Disco from 8p.m. Members £2 Guests £3.

Ladies dartS: On Monday[30th] the Team Knockout Cup Final will be played at Robertsbridge Club between The White Hart (Netherfield) and The Bear II.

Stoolball: Training is every Tuesday commencing at 6.30p.m. at the Cricket Ground and anybody is welcome to attend.
