Robertsbridge village voice

The Patient Participation Group for Old Wood Surgery would like to thank all of those people that attended the Education Morning on Saturday 21st April, there was around 50 people attending. Thank you also to the WI ladies for doing the refreshments and a definite thank you to Tim Fellows from SECAMB for coming and giving his time and such an informative presentation.

He also brought the defibrillators along that will now be in Robertsbridge for our use as a community. One will be positioned on the front wall of the Senlac Vets in the High Street and the other one will be at the Salehurst Halt. If everything goes to plan these will be in position by the time you read this article. These are not toys and are there for the health of our village. We are all responsible to keep them safe because you never know when it may be your mum or dad, brother sister, son or daughter that may need the use of the machine. If you would like to be part of the PPG please go along to the surgery and ask for more details. This is the start of many events that will be set up in the village, if there is a need for any further education on First Aid or Saving a Life please contact the surgery and the group may be able to help set something up or send you in the right direction to get the help that you need.

Sadly mindless vandals have hit Robertsbridge again. Just when everything has been looking quite good. The cricket club has been the victim this time. Last year it was deemed a necessity to have nets put up at the boundary of the cricket pitch to protect the play equipment and users, which was put in by the Parish Council.

With donations from the parish council and the Bruderhof £3000.00 was raised to enable the cricket club to get the nets and have them erected during the cricket season last year, and they served the purpose very well. Now, just as this season is about to start some vandals have cut a hole about 10m square in the netting and have taken it away. So in effect it has not only been vandalised but stolen as well. This took place on the night of Saturday 21st April. This leaves the cricket club in a predicament. Not knowing yet if the nets will be covered by insurance, but knowing that they have to be repaired or replaced will cost the club dearly out of already small funds. It is such a shame that a small village cricket club that is trying to promote cricket within our community, especially in the younger people of the village, has to be subjected to such vandalism by a minority of people who are set on destroying anything good that is being achieved.
