Rogate traffic calming still has county council support

ROGATE villagers have asked for an assurance their ambitious traffic calming measures are still supported.

The innovative scheme suffered a major setback when it was costed at £500,000 last year.

But with the help of new highways officers the ‘shared space’ scheme moved forward again with cost compromises to improve safety for pedestrians crossing the busy A272.

However, with little action in the last few months parish councillor Fiona Dix asked county local committee chairman Michael Brown for assurances it still had support.

He told her the highways cabinet member had agreed the study would be implemented as and when funds were available: “We are still committed to this project.”
