Rose Green resident protest bus cuts

The Willowhale Farm Residents’ Association’s 240-plus members have added their voices to the opposition against the proposal to stop subsidised services on the 60 route.

The service links the estate with Bognor Regis, Chichester and Midhurst.

John Bass, a founder of the association, said: “If the county council go ahead with this plan, it will discriminate against the residents of our area.

“This applies to all ages from schoolchildren who do after school activities, people who work unsociable hours and the elderly who rely on the No 60 to either go into Bognor Regis and Chichester for shopping or going to the health centre for evening appointments or visiting St Richard’s Hospital.

“This is a very short-sighted approach to saving money when we are trying to stop people using their cars.

“This plan on scrapping our bus should be looked at again.

“It is time to take notice of the local people and use commonsense and see about extending the time between buses and not stopping them altogether.”

West Sussex County Council’s consultation about its proposal to stop funding the route after 6.30pm Mondays to Saturdays and all services on Sundays has now finished.

Any cutbacks will start from October.
