Rotary cheque for charity

BEXHILL Rotary Club President John Griffith presented a cheque for £400 to Jackie Haggerty, the newly appointed manager of Bexhill Caring Community.

This was one of a number of donations to local charities made possible because of the generosity of the Bexhill residents during the club’s Christmas collections.

Talking to President John, Jackie said that she is “finding it a very varied challenge and time is flying by as it is only two months since I took up my position and the BCC is very busy”.

The new Community Room is being very well used and their other services are constantly in demand.

Among those are the local bus and car service, home library, the supply of electric bath seats, zimmer frames and commodes.

In addition they offer a “form filling” facility to encourage local residents to claim attendance allowance.

Bexhill Caring Community doesn’t receive Government or lottery funding, relying mainly on legacies and whatever they can raise from fund raising campaigns as well as donations such as the one from the Rotary Club.

This all goes towards maintaining the services they provide with the invaluable assistance from 200 volunteers, more of whom will always be very welcome.
