Safety railings to be removed in Haywards Heath - what do you think?
This includes removing all rails on the south side of Sussex Road (A272) opposite the entrance to Orchards Shopping Centre where only four will retained on the north side.
Rails are also being taken out from Monday March 10 in Commercial Square, Muster Green, and all approaches to Sussex Square roundabout, except from Sussex Road south.

Hide AdIt is stated the removals are in line with a number of key policy documents in recent years that are challenging the ‘over use of pedestrian guard railing and advocating reduction in the amounts used’.
The move is being championed by Haywards Heath Town Council and has been signed off West Sussex County Council road safety team leader Jon Forster.
However, while the move has apparently been welcomed in many quarters, especially traders says the Town Council, others say it is a ‘foolish’ and ‘dangerous’ idea.
