Scout leaders Czech in at the mayor's parlour

FIVE scout leaders from the Czech Republic visited Worthing last week.

The group, all from the Czech region of Hradec Krlov, met mayor Tom Wye in the mayor's parlour on Thursday evening as part of a four-day trip looking at fundraising and scouting in this country.

The visit included sightseeing in Arundel and Chichester as well as meeting with local scout leaders, scout groups, and members of the Worthing Council for Voluntary Service.

Jeanne Greenyer, leader of Second Goring scouts, was one of the organisers of the visit, having met the leaders more than 10 years ago when she took guides and scouts camping in the Czech Republic.

She said the visitors, who stayed in a seafront hotel, greatly enjoyed the trip '“ and their sea view.

She said: "It was very successful. They enjoyed being by the sea because they're from a landlocked country.

"They felt they got a lot of information. They were very positive about what they found out."
