SECOND MUM FACES DEPORTATION

ANOTHER woman is facing deportation after marrying and having a child in Hastings.

Aizhan Mahavi, 25, of Devonshire Road, has been told she must go back to her native Kazakhstan by the Home Office and re-apply for a spouse's visa.

This follows the story of Rachel and Mark Nagle, who are waiting to find out whether Mrs Nagle can stay in the country following an appeal last week.

Aizhan said: "When we read the story it was just like reading what is happening to us."

Aizhan and her husband Jamal, 39, who runs Mahavi's Internet shop on White Rock, have been told they have no right of appeal.

They have a three-month-old baby boy, Farid, and say the Home Office should let them stay and not split up the family. But in reality they know the best they can hope for is to delay Aizhan's departure until Farid is older and fit to travel with his mother.

She said: "I don't know why I can't stay here. I have a husband and I am a mum now.

"I am worried because if I go back to Kazakhstan I don't know whether they will give me a visa or how long it will take."

Aizhan came to the country as a student leader for Embassy Language School, also on White Rock, for the first time in 2002. She visited Hastings several times a year and started visiting Mahavi's Internet.

It was there she fell in love with Jamal.

They married in August 2003 at Hastings Register Office but Aizhan was refused permission to stay as a spouse while she was here on a work visa.

She said: "It is terrible for my family to think I am illegal in England.

"I just want to stay here. I have done nothing wrong."

Jamal added: "When we applied we paid money for the visa and we thought everything would be all right.

"We were told so many different stories by the Home Office that we don't trust them to give her a visa if she goes back to Kazakhstan.

"We are just waiting now. That's all we can do."

The letter from the Home Office to the couple notifying them of the refusal to let her stay said the couple were not required to leave the United Kingdom immediately, but action may be taken in the future enforce their departure.
