SEDLESCOMBE RANGERS: Sedlescombe Rangers will be continuing on with hosting their annual tournament this weekend Saturday July 11 and Sunday July 4. Due to the popularity of the tournament which attracts many teams and supporters from across the county you may experience increased traffic activity around the village. Peak times are 8 to 9.15am and 12.30 to 2pm. The club will be working hard to minimise the disruption and give apologise in advance for any inconvenience the event may cause.

SEDLESCOMBE FAYRE 2015: Only another week to go until Sedlescombe Fayre on the Sports field makes its return on Saturday July 18 2015. Open from 2 ‘til approx 5pm- we say approx as we do not really know what will happen once the goose appears ! Free entry and free parking but donations to Sedlescombe Youth club who will be directing would be most appreciated in their buckets. . Chris Campbell estate agents have offered their support in sponsoring Advertising boards for the event. Pumphouse Designs have also supplied posters for around the village. Many of the village groups and businesses will be taking part on the day including to name just a few, Sedlescombe School, The Queens Head,K9 Rescue dogs, Pestalozzi, Battle Lions, Sedlescombe Flower Club, Sedlescombe Green WI, Parish church and Friends of the Church, Sedlescombe cricket club, Sedlescombe football club, Sedlescombe Preschool, Friends of Sedlescombe School, Sedlescombe Wine Club when they will have the opportunity to publicise and raise funds for themselves and local charities. One of the village geese will also have a starring role when he enhances the cricket square!

Many of the old favourites coconut shy, crockery smashing, beat the goalie, beer tent, ice cream, pop corn, human fruit machine, plus much more and some new attractions like “guess the weight of the dog “ run by the Royal British Legion!

One of the main attractions will be one of the village geese which will have a starring role in “Guess where the Goose will poop!” and you could win £500. There will also be an excellent Art exhibition featuring local artists. Refreshments will be served from the sports pavilion throughout the afternoon, all provided by the dedicated staff and volunteers from St Michaels Hospice raising funds directly for this local charity.

SEDLESCOMBE FAYRE GRAND DRAW: Buy before the day - TICKETS ARE NOW AVAILABLE priced at 50p each, from Sedlescombe Stores, Clockhouse hair and Beauty Studio, The Queens Head and other sellers around the village. This will be drawn in the afternoon at the village fayre on Saturday July 18. Prizes donated include Brickwall Hotel Dinner for two, One hour Western Riding lesson given by Jonathan Vine-Hall, European Gold Medalist, Voucher for a combined session with Sedlescombe Fitness worth £70, Two pairs of weekend tickets including camping for the Big Green Cardigan Festival worth £80 per ticket, Hamper from Sedlescombe Stores, Entry for two to Pashley Manor gardens, Vineyard tours at Sedlescombe Vineyard and Carr Taylor Vineyard, Mot from Vicarys garage and from Bridge Garage, 2 hour guided tour of Hurst House gardens for 4 people with Pimms escorted by the Head Gardener. Money raised from the draw will be to benefit the sports association and village groups You have to be in it to win it!

SEDLESCOMBE AND DISTRICT GARDENING SOCIETY: The Garden Society writes that it is holding its Summer Show in conjunction with the Village Summer Fete on Saturday July 18 on the Village Sports field. As well as flower and vegetable classes there are classes for Floral art, photography, handicraft and a domestic home cooking section as well as special classes for children. Entry forms should be returned to the Village Stores by Tuesday July 14 or post direct to the show secretary, Jo Evans, at Fairhill, Cottage Lane, Westfield, TN35 4QG. If it is raining on the day then the show will be held in the village hall. Staging of entries will take place between 9.00am and 11.15am, judging from 11.15 am and then the show will be open to the public from 2.00pm.”

CHAPEL HILL CHURCH: Date for your Diary Chapel Hill Church in Sedlescombe will be hosting an Open Day on Saturday, July 25 from 11 am to 4 pm. There will be an interesting display of the history of the church featuring photos and information of its 136 years in the village. Refreshments will be available and all are welcome to visit and learn more about the heritage of this building and its users. Services at Chapel Hill Church are held every Sunday at 10.30am with visiting clergy taking the services.

ST MICHAELS HOSPICE OPEN GARDEN SCHEME: This week it is back to Ashburnham, this time to Redpale, Bodle Street, BN27 4RJ open on Tuesday July 14, which will be open from 10.30am until 4pm in support of this local charity. This stunning garden features amogst other areas a lovely scented walkway planted with Roserie de l’Hay. Entry is just £4. Refreshments will be available all day at this venue. Well worth a visit with family or friends.
