Small-screen success for drama students

A LOCAL drama student has landed a breakthrough role in a BBC drama series.

Budding starlet Lucy Gape, of Bexhill, has been cast as a leading character in an episode of the daytime drama Doctors, shown on BBC One at 1.45pm on weekdays.

Lucy, a 17-year-old student at The Theatre Workshop, a drama school based in Bexhill High School, Gunters Lane, plays Annie Salt, a rebellious teen. The episode airs in May.

Oscar Lloyd, another Theatre Workshop student, has also been nominated for Best Young Actor in the British Soap Awards.

Oscar, who does not live in Bexhill but keeps his address private, plays Will Wylde in Emmerdale. School director Lora Munro said: "He works very hard and completely deserves the accolade for his skills as an actor."
