The glasses were spotted in the grass near the bench at Galley Hill on Sunday afternoon by thoughtful locals Dan and Val Rodney.

They were sitting in their car "having a nice cup of coffee and looking at the sea" when a visitor pointed to the glasses fallen on the ground.

Val, of Gwyneth Grove, said: "They are so expensive...I know what it is like because we both wear glasses, and they are expensive - we wanted to save someone having to buy another pair."

The glasses are the half-lens reading type, with a plastic tortoiseshell frame.
