Talking gardening at Fairlight Hall

The third in the series of ‘armchair’ guides from Fairlight Hall’s head gardener Peter Godwin will discuss fruit tree forms, climbing plants, roses, training as standards, basic techniques and renovation.

The talk starts at 10.30am in the recital room, and is followed by a private garden tour and a light lunch cooked with estate-grown ingredients. Tickets cost £35 and are available on line at www.fairlighthall.co.uk

During the visit you will have the opportunity to buy estate-grown produce in the new Shepherd’s Hut shop, as well estate grown plants, and a range of useful gardening tools and equipment.

“Whether you are an armchair or hands-on gardener you will find something to interest you in our new Lunch and a Lecture series,” said gardening expert Peter, “and every ticket sold contributes to supporting our new young gardener’s apprentice scheme. It is an exciting new departure for us all in the garden, and judging by the response so far, has been thoroughly enjoyed by all participants.”

The Lunch and a Lecture series in August covers Plant Propagation and on the weekend of September 19, during Fairlight Hall’s inaugural Specialist and Continental Plant Fair, Peter is planning a programme of talks and presentations from specialist plant growers and suppliers.

He added: “With our September Plant Fair, which will be free to enter, local gardeners will have a further opportunity to learn more about gardening and to source interesting and unusual plants for their gardens.”
