Tarring toddler is smiling again

A TARRING toddler left devastated after thoughtless teenagers destroyed one of her toys has had a smile put back on her face thanks to kind Worthing Herald readers.

Little Eloise Hawkins, just three years old, was left in tears after her cuddly friend Milo, a character from the 1990s children's TV show The Tweenies, was snatched by teenagers from the back of her bike while she was riding in Palatine Park last month.

But since appearing in the Herald two weeks ago, kind readers have donated toys and books to Eloise.

Her mum Mandy, of Terringes Avenue, said: "I didn't expect this reaction and would like to thank everyone who has donated something to Eloise.

"We have had toys left for us on our doorstep, including new Milos, and people have approached us in the park.

"I contacted the Herald because I wanted to have my say after seeing Eloise so upset, but I have been lost for words by the reaction the article has had. Eloise is so happy with her new toys."

As well as toys left on the family's doorstep, a woman called Nicky left Eloise a copy of Quentin Blake's Mr Magnolia at the Worthing Herald offices.
