Tarring's mobile mast victory

PEOPLE power has forced a mobile phone giant to think again about siting a mast in West Tarring.

T-Mobile has withdrawn its planning application to place the mast on a grass verge in front of the allotments in St Andrew's Road after 150 letters of objection were received by the borough council.

The phone company has said it is re-surveying the area to find a more suitable location.

Worthing West MP Peter Bottomley helped boost strong community resistance against the original plan, and he was thanked by one of the campaigners, Caroline Nelson, of St Andrew's Road.

Mr Bottomley replied: "Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. Local residents deserve the credit."
