Tesco open day welcomes Community Champion

TESCO, Ravenside, will be welcoming newly appointed Community Champion, Hazel Lingham, at a community open day on October 5.

Tesco's Community Champion initiative appoints members of staff who live locally and who love to get involved with, and support, their local community in selected stores across the UK.

Hazel will be available at the Ravenside open day between 9-3pm to talk to members of the public about her new role and the ways in which she can bring Tesco and the community together.

Hazel, who grew up in Bexhill, said:

"I'm really looking forward to meeting more people from around the town and hearing about up and coming events that I might be able to help with."

Tesco say the Champions spend 18 hours a week helping their community and look at ways their store can get involved with local groups and projects, including councils, hospices, schools and sports clubs.

Practical support offered includes donating products, raising awareness in store, or attending school assemblies with boxes of fruit and veg to talk to kids about healthy eating.

Tesco, Ravenside, customer service manager Mel Crossingham said: "We are very excited and welcome Hazel as our new Community Champion for the Bexhill store. I am looking forward to what we can achieve together."
