But it’s not a circus, a travelling zoo or even a rugby team, it’s the Princess of Wales’ Royal Regiment, which will be parading through the town on Sunday, July 21.

Led by the regimental band, the Tigers will be exercising their freedom of Arundel on their first return to the town for a decade.

The invitation was extended by Arundel Town Council and the parade is one of a series across the south-east, starting on Saturday, in Godalming and also taking in Chichester, Folkestone and Barnet, finishing in Winchester on Monday, July 22.

Brigadier Richard Dennis, Colonel of the regiment, said: “The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment is extremely proud to parade through the towns and cities we call home. We are an integral part of these communities and these parades are symbolic both of our gratitude for the tremendous support we receive and our ongoing commitment to this longstanding relationship.”

The Arundel parade, at noon, will be followed by an act of remembrance at the war memorial at about 12.30pm.
