Tragic police chief - latest
IT has emerged that the police detective found dead on Thursday was due to answer bail on a shoplifting allegation the NEXT day.
DCI Jim Torbet - a Bexhill High School governor - reportedly hanged himself.
He was found at his home in Peacehaven at 1.30am on Thursday.
His body was found by his brother Fraser.
Sussex Police won't comment on criticism that the investigation into shoplifting ws taking too long and putting extra starin on Mr Torbet.
