RYE SINGERS CONCERT IN BREDE: If you haven’t any other plans for tomorrow evening (Saturday) there’s an opportunity to hear the annual Rye Singers Summer Concert without having to go to Rye. For a change they will be presenting it in St George’s Church, Brede instead, starting at 7.30pm. Conducted by Lesley Brownbill and accompanied by Richard Eldridge, their concerts are always of a very high standard. Their programme will comprise music to suit all tastes, ranging from Madrigals, through Mendelssohn to modern pieces. Tickets will be available at the door, if you’re there in good time, costing £8.50 (to include refreshments and a glass of wine).

CHURCH SERVICES: In St Mary’s this Sunday, Holy Communion will be celebrated at 8am. At 11.15am there will be the monthly Family Service for All, at which everyone will be welcome (with or without children), followed by refreshments in the Hall.

LOCAL GARDEN OPEN: Between 2 and 5pm on Wednesday (July 15) the garden of South Grange, Quickbourne Lane, Northiam will be open to the public again for the National Gardens Scheme. Those of you who have visited South Grange in previous years will know that it’s a garden with a diverse range of interest. Particularly interesting just now are the methods the owners have devised for keeping their garden supplied with water in times of drought. Entry costs £3.50 (children free), and there will be home-made teas and home-propagated plants for sale. To find South Grange, follow yellow NGS signs from the centre of Northiam.

PARISH COUNCIL MEETING: Also on Wednesday (July 15) our Parish Council will be meeting at 6.30pm in the Hall. Before then you may expect to receive the Council’s July Newsletter, with details of the agenda. Do come along if you can: our councillors are always grateful for our support.
