Wealden District Council is looking at the application made by Alfriston and Cuckmere Historical Society.
If it gets the go-ahead, the plaques would give a brief history of each building for visitors to read.

He added: 'We got an award from the lottery fund to put up plaques on interesting and historical buildings in the village.
'The society is hopeful the district council will accept the application as we think the plaques would be of considerable interest to visitors.'
Eight of the 11 buildings are listed. They are: The Star Inn, The Smugglers Inn, Stones (the Old Glove Factory ) Steamer Cottages (the Old Steamer Inn), Deans Place Hotel, The Old Farmhouse, the Post Office and the United Reformed Church.
