Work nowunderwayto re-openfootpath

Work has started to re-open a footpath at Hastings Country Park that has been blocked all year following a landslip.

The path, which leads to Ecclesbourne Glen, is widely used by walkers in the park and is a route which connects Hastings to Fairlight.

Hastings Country Park Conservation Volunteers have been working with Hastings Borough Council rangers to re-instate some of the steps on the main footpath to the glen.

Further work will take place to install signs and wooding fences on other footpaths that remain closed.

Cllr Dawn Poole, of Hastings Borough Council, said: “This is the first stage of re-opening the main coastal footpath which can now be used with care due to the uneven surface.

“Their hard work will allow people to resume walking the route.”
