Not only did the agency, based in Devonshire Square, mark its 15th year in the town, it also received its Society Matters award acknowledging the branch’s commitment to the local community.

Society Matters is the name of Yorkshire Building Society’s corporate responsibility programme which aims to make a genuine difference through charity fundraising, volunteering and community activities.

In 2015 colleagues and customers held a collection for useful items for Bexhill Food Bank which supports struggling families in the area.

The agency also raised £324 for the Society’s Hour of Need campaign which funds Marie Curie nursing care for people with a terminal illness. Every £20 funds one hour of care and customers and colleagues have raised the equivalent of more than 30 hours of Marie Curie nursing care.

Anita Morley, proprietor of the Yorkshire said: “As an organisation, we believe that together with our members and customers, we can make a real difference in our local communities.

“I’m honoured that we have been recognised for the work we have done in 2015 in support of Bexhill and we will be continuing this work in 2016.

“Winning this award was the icing on top of the birthday cake for us as we celebrated 15 fantastic years in the town and look forward to many more to come. I’d like to thank everyone who joined us and made such a day to remember.”
