Big race award in memory of Reg

An award in memory of Reg Wild is to be presented at the Hastings Half Marathon.

Following the sad death of Hastings Athletic Club stalwart Reg last August, his widow Jean has agreed to award the ‘Reg Wild Memorial Shield’ on an annual basis.

The shield will go to the first boy and first girl from Hastings AC to finish the Saga Insurance-sponsored Mini-Run, starting with this year’s event on Sunday March 25.

Reg was involved with the half marathon from the very beginning 28 years ago and sponsored the mini-run – a shorter race along the seafront for children aged 11-16 which takes place during the main event - for 15 years.

His work with youngsters at Hastings AC was outstanding and it is for these reasons that Jean would like to make this award in memory of Reg, pictured.

Entries for the mini-run are now open. Potential participants can either fill in an entry form (available at sport centres and shops) or enter online at www.hastings-half.co.uk

There is a limit of 200 for the mini-run and entries are not accepted on race morning, so it is advisable to enter as soon as possible.
