But it’s certainly not too late to sign up for the Hastings Lions Club-organised event on Sunday March 23. Anybody wishing to line-up in the 13.1-mile run should visit hastings-half.co.uk

Runners whose applications are received after this will have to collect their race packs on race morning. The organisers cannot guarantee entries on race morning as the field is filling up very quickly.

Those keen to take part in the Mini-Run for children aged 11-16, meanwhile, are advised to enter soon as it will not be possible to do so on the day itself.

Race director Eric Hardwick said: “I have never seen so many runners out training in Hastings as in this last week. The good weather helps and makes for a further surge in entries.

“It has been mentioned that Hastings does not have a Sport Relief Mile for Sunday March 23 - but it does. You can either run 13.1 miles in the Half Marathon (if aged 17 upwards) or run a mile in the Mini-Run (for those aged 11-16). You can run for Sport Relief or you can raise monies for any needy cause of your choice.”
