Bowls tournament back from brink

The Annual General Meeting of the Hastings Open Bowls Tournament has been hailed as “an outstanding success”.

Fears were raised prior to the gathering that the historic event - which this year celebrated its centenary - might fold unless two key positions were taken up behind the scenes.

The meeting at Falaise Indoor Bowls Centre on Sunday was well attended and most main appointments were filled.

Other appointments: Chairman - Martyn Naylor (who will also continue as caretaker secretary until another secretary can be found); Assistant chairman - Sean Logan-Walker; Assistant secretary - Gwen Softley; Treasurer - Michael Grigg; Competition secretary - Simon Moore.

The assistant treasurer’s post is vacant, as is the post of secretary so if anyone is interested contact the committee on (01424) 430349 or visit www.hastingsbowlstournament.com
