BURTON AIMS FOR BRITISH RECORD

STEYNING Athletic Club's David Burton will be competing in the veteran World Championships next month.

Burton, who broke the men's pentathlon record recently, hopes to compete in the decathlon at the championships in San Sebastian, Spain.

He warmed up for the competition at the British Masters Track and Field Championships at Alexander Stadium, Birmingham at the weekend. On Saturday, he won the long jump and 100m and came fourth in the javelin. His winning leap in the long jump was 4.12metres with 13.83sec his victorious time in the 100m. He threw 25.47m in the javelin.
