Crews make a splash at regatta

BEXHILL performed brilliantly at their own annual rowing regatta on Sunday with three wins, three 2nd and four 3rd place finishes.

The junior men coxed fours crew of Mark and Matt Mitchell, Gus Gumbrell, Paul Mercer, and Rebecca Dawes beat main rivals Dover, while the junior senior crew of Darren Mitchell, Paul Heskett, Nick Woolger and Kieran Cahill and cox, Andy Bickers, clinched their fourth championship win in succession.

Mark Mitchell gave the club their third win, while brother Matt was 2nd in the junior Skulls with Andy Bickers 3rd.

The novice men's crew of Dan Renner, Ashley Cahill, Doug Holdaway and Joe Roberts claimed an excellent 2nd place, while the Cripps sisters were 3rd in the ladies senior pairs.

The Mitchells settled for 2nd in the senior pairs, with Gumbrell and Paul Dawes finishing 3rd.
