Cricket derby ends in a draw

BEXHILL held on for a draw in their local derby at Sidley on Saturday to stay on the fringe of the Sussex Second Division promotion race.

Jonathan Haffenden topped the Sidley scorers with 39 after the home side were dismissed for 205, with Sam Roberts taking 4-69 and Rakesh Patel 3-47.

Bexhill reached 155-8 in reply with only Roberts (39) and John Holland (28) making an impression. Danny Reid took 3-35 for a Sidley side which finally hauled themselves off the foot of the table at the expense of Preston Nomads.
