Proud dad Tim said: "He's a bit of an all-rounder but he has excelled with his batting this year, averaging over 46 for the season, but it really kicked into gear when he went down to Taunton in August for a cricket festival (English Schools Cricket Association Festival) against other counties. He scored 222 runs at an average of 111 and Sussex won."

The 11-year-old compiled knocks of 35, 87 not out, 53 not out and 46 as Sussex romped past the challenge of Cheshire, Cornwall, Shropshire, Essex and Oxfordshire to win their group.

Callum, who plays for Little Common Ramblers Cricket Club and attends St Bede's School, is also quite a talent on the football pitch and to complete an amazing sporting double has been selected for the county squad following successful trials at Lancing College.

"He's a bit like a runaway train at the moment," Tim added. "He's just had one of those years when everything has gone well for him."
