CRICKET: Sean smashes a ton for EP

EP finished seventh in Invitation League Division 1, and eighth-placed Chippingdale could yet be relegated if the Invitation League's plans to merge with the West Sussex League go through.

Chipps came 14 points behind EP, who were just one point adrift of sixth-placed Ram.

Rebbetts struck 121 from 116 deliveries with 16 fours and four sixes, and was fifth man out with the score on 194. He ended the season with 601 runs, which would have beaten his runs record for a season of 579, set last season '” only his brother, Darryl, smashed 679 this year.

EP scored 240-9 from their 49 overs, but Eagles reached the target in just 36.5 overs, despite three wickets for Mark Coskin.

EP captain Andy Reeves said: "We are a little bit disappointed to come seventh, as we were looking at third or fourth at one stage.

"But everyone's progressed nicely. We'll be without Darryl Rebbetts, who will be playing Sussex League cricket next year, but it will give someone else the chance to fill his shoes."

In Sussex League Division 3 West, bottom-club Arundel were beaten by four wickets at home to second-bottom Henfield.

Richard James hit 53 from 85 balls, with seven fours and one six, in Arundel's total of 167. But Henfield opener, Richard Dale, guided his side to victory with an unbeaten 90, which included 11 fours from 137 deliveries.

Arundel finish their season away to Ifield on Saturday.

Rustington completed their Invitation League Division 2 campaign with a seven-wicket defeat to Barns Green after being bowled out for 111.

Rustington finished bottom with just 55 points. They drew one match, lost 14 and had one of their 16 league matches cancelled.
