Sidley v Crowhurst Park preview

The cricketers of Sidley and Crowhurst Park will go head-to-head in league action for the first time this decade.

Sidley will host Park at Gullivers tomorrow (Saturday) in Division Three (East) of the Sussex Cricket League. Play will start at 1pm.

“They’ve got a strong batting line-up and obviously Victor (Walcott, Park’s 49-year-old captain who once played for the Barbados national team) is still a good bowler,” said Sidley captain Scott Woodroffe.

“They’ve also got some useful young players by all accounts. It’s not going to be an easy task against Crowhurst I would’ve thought. We’ve got to go out and play well, and go and win the game.”

Both teams have won two and lost two of their first four matches with third-placed Sidley two places and five points above their local rivals.

Park captain Victor Walcott said: “It’s a bit of a local derby and we want to give Sidley a good run for their money. We’re up for it - that’s the main thing - and we’re going in there all guns blazing.”

Sidley (possible): Woodroffe (c), Nice, Swannell, Thompson, King, C. Deeprose, Haffenden, Priddy, S. Ramsden, Auer, Crittenden.

Park (possible): Walcott (c), Barry, Menezes, Brookes, Payne, Smissen, Tong, Lindfield, Philcox, Ayres, Willis.
