Easter Open Day at Sussex Horse Rescue

SUSSEX Horse Rescue Trust, which has just emerged from its 13th winter at its continually improving headquarters at Hempstead Farm, Hempstead Lane,Uckfield, is opening its doors to the public on Sunday with a special Easter open day.

This offers an excellent opportunity for the general public to see at close quarters the valuable work undertaken by the trust.

Sunday's Open Day, ideal for a family day out, starts at 11am and there will be ponies, donkeys, shires, horses, pigs, goats, llamas, sheep, chickens, peacocks and ducks to see. Pony rides, a barbecue, sideshow, the newly restocked Barn shop and teas will be part of other attractions, while Bobby Craig, a well-known farrier, who looks after horses at the centre, will give a live shoeing demonstration.

Admission is 2 adults and 1 children.

Pauline Grant, who founded the trust in the 1960's, has established a successful rescue, rehabilitate and loan system for equines in her care. It is the largest horse sanctuary in the south and currently runs a rescue programme for equines that have suffered neglect, mistreatment or are simply unwanted.
