Billingshurst '˜get out of jail' with draw at Bosham

The first chance saw Bosham’s Nick Edgington’s shot was blocked by the brave dive of Lee Bradshaw before it reached the goal.

Bosham then had a goal disallowed when Dave Storey pounced on a loose ball following some pressure on the Hurst goal, but the linesman’s flag was up.

Freddie Bowles twice went close, before the home stopper made a diving stop to deny Nick Tilley. At the other end, a Louis Bell shot smashed against the bar.

In the second half, a Stuart Barber diving lunge averted a cross away from a man at the back post and up against the bar and out. Bosham talisman Marco Giambelardin in came off the bench and forced Tom Betts in the Hurst goal into a fine double save.

Billingshurst almost nicked it late-on when substitutes Ben Tourhai and Billy Lannon combined letting the ball run for Elliott Hawkes, he in turned left it for Tilley, who blazed high and wide.

Konieczny said: “We got out of jail, but we defended well and have become a lot more solid defensively and becoming a hard team to beat which is a great trait to have.

“We were indebted to our keeper who kept us in the game with a fantastic double save and it proves you get out what you put in as he trains relentlessly with Owen Matthews his coach.

“Nick could have won it for us late-on but it would have been an injustice, however, one I would have been prepared to take.”
