Common tournament a real winner

Little Common Football Club hosted a successful annual youth tournament last weekend.

More than 100 teams across six age groups from under-9s to under-14s descended upon the Recreation Ground on Saturday and Sunday.

Tournament organiser Daniel Eldridge said: “It was an enjoyable weekend with another very good turnout of teams both locally and from slightly further afield.

“The weather was kind to us and we are indebted to all the members of the club who helped throughout the weekend, as well as the referees who gave up their time.”

The hosts enjoyed some success in the older age groups with the under-13s reaching the semi-finals and the under-14s going one better in making the final.

Results: under-9s winners Sedlescombe Rangers, runners-up Hastings Town; under-10s winners Sovereign Saints, r/up Lewes Bridge View; under-11s winners Eastbourne Town, r/up Hastings Town Red; under-12s winners Bexhill Town, r/up Hastings Rangers; under-13s winners Hove Rivervale, r/up Eastbourne Borough; under-14s winners Dean Valley, r/up Little Common.
