Duo sign for Sidley

Nessling joins on a dual-registration basis with Eastbourne Town and is expected to go straight into the side for the home game against high-riding Redhill on Saturday.

Former Hastings United stopper Nessling, 27, has recently returned to football having retired after an outing for Eastbourne Borough against Oxford United in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

Sidley manager John Lambert said: “I had him at Hastings so I know all about him and he’s a decent ‘keeper. Matt Dann’s done well for us and so has Daniyar (Tashpulatov), but there’s nothing like having a settled ‘keeeper.”

Assuming he plays in the Sussex County Football League Division One fixture against Redhill, Nessling will be the fifth different goalkeeper the Blues have used already this season.

It’s been a problem position for Lambert ever since the excellent Josh Pelling joined Ryman League Division One South club Eastbourne Town three weeks ago.

Dann has travelled back from university in Chichester for the weekend games, while Hastings United youngster Tashpulatov has stood in for the midweek matches.

The anticipated transfer of Henty from AFC Uckfield has now gone through and the 29-year-old is expected to train next week following injury.

Kenny Pogue came on as a substitute for Eastbourne Town against Maidstone United last night (Wednesday) having played in Sidley’s 9-2 win at AFC Uckfield 24 hours earlier.

Lambert said: “He said he’s going to go over there and see how it is. He makes a difference to us Ken. He’s a threat all the time.”
