The Ryman Football League Division One South contest was called-off due to a waterlogged pitch after the Kiln Brow pitch failed a 10.30am inspection.

It means that all of the area’s senior clubs will be kicking their heels this weekend after Bexhill United’s match was called-off earlier this morning, and the fixtures involving Rye United and Westfield were postponed yesterday. Little Common were without a fixture anyhow.

United’s third postponement in 15 days of dreadful wet and windy weather means they’ve completed just two league matches since December 7, and still haven’t reached the midway point of their league programme.

The U’s, whose own pitch at The Pilot Field is playable today, are scheduled to visit Whitstable Town on Tuesday night before entertaining table-topping Peacehaven & Telscombe next Saturday.

Hastings United’s upcoming fixtures (league unless stated): January 7 Whitstable Town (a), January 11 Peacehaven & Telscombe (h), January 13 Chipstead (h), January 18 Crawley Down Gatwick (a), January 20 Herne Bay (h), January 25 Leatherhead (a), January 27 Burgess Hill Town (h) Sussex Senior Cup 3rd round, February 1 Faversham Town (h), February 3 Walton & Hersham (h), February 8 Sittingbourne (a), February 11 Folkestone Invicta (a), February 15 Merstham (h), February 17 Hythe Town (h), February 22 Guernsey (h).
