Late penalty continues Wick’s revival

In a game marred by a nasty back injury to Sidley’s Dan Spice, Wick manager Gary Block was delighted with his team’s battling win, which saw them move up to fourth from bottom.

Block said: “We played well in a tight game, we got a bit of fortune with the goal, but to be fair we’re probably due some and we’ll take it.

“We were the better side and it’s great to get another three points.

“We’re up another place and we probably would have lost that game a month ago.

“Their guy got a nasty back injury, so our best wishes go to him, then their goalkeeper got sent off and they ended with nine men, so we got a bit lucky, but, as I say, we’ll take it.”

There was a half-hour delay while a ambulance was called for Spice’s 80th-minute injury, and Sidley restarted the game with 10 men having used all their substitutes.

Wick got the only goal on 85 minutes when Sidley keeper Harry Killick brought down Rob Wimble, and Bradshaw slammed home the spot-kick to continue Wick’s recent revival.

Wick will look to continue their fine recent form when they host sixth-from-bottom Ringmer in the league on Saturday.
