Not even a red can stop Reds in their tracks

Bosham again had to make changes but still had strength and experience. But there were signs of nerves and manager Tony Hancock had an edgy look about him.

Gareth Standing and Ewan Bonneyman moved the ball well for Roffey and one move brought a penalty close to the half-hour mark which Wayne Powell dispatched. Spencer Stent was red-carded for the offence which led to the kick.

When the Reds had a chance to level from the spot, Marco Giambelardini smashed his effort against the bar. But immediately, from a corner, Neil Redman poked in to draw Bosham level.

The second period was minutes old when the Reds edged in front as Graeme Dowden struck a powerful effort which sailed in, leaving keeper Rob Barden powerless.

Bosham were now looking more dangerous with ten men and a late flurry of goals put the result beyond doubt.

Marc Maunder pounced on a loose ball and powered through a static defence to slot home. Giambelardini got his name on the scoresheet after Ben Blanshard put him in. Then sub James Johnson thumped a shot through a crowd for number five.

Bosham now look forward to two weeks of cup action at Walton Lane, always a nice distraction from league obligations.
