Rams lie in wait for new boss

Maggs, who was appointed manager yesterday, will be at the helm as United host Ramsgate hoping to make it 16 points from a possible 18 at the start of their Ryman Football League Division One South campaign.

The good work done by caretaker bosses Mark Stapley and Terry White sees United lying second in the early league table, level on points with leaders Crawley Down Gatwick. Ramsgate are in sixth place having won three and lost two of their opening five fixtures. Kick-off at The Pilot Field is 3pm.

Elsewhere today, the area’s four Sussex County League clubs are all in action this morning at 11am. Rye United will be gunning for a second successive Division One victory away to a bottom-of-the-table Hailsham Town side which is yet to pick up a point from three outings.

Westfield and Little Common will go head-to-head in a Division Two derby at The Parish Field. Westfield will be desperate to end a run of one point from a possible nine against a Common outfit bidding for a fourth victory in 10 days.

Also in Division Two, Bexhill United will be aiming to build on their weekend win at Seaford Town as they travel to Saltdean United. Saltdean have had a mixed start to the season, scoring six goals twice, as well as conceding six and seven.
