Weekend County League games off

The Sussex County Football League has issued a blanket postponement for all matches under its control this weekend.

The Division Two matches involving Bexhill United and Clymping, and Little Common and Seaford Town are among those already called-off as a result of the extreme weather.

The blanket postponement doesn’t apply, however, to the Hastings & District FA Senior Cup first round tie between Sidley United and Westfield, although that is almost certain to follow suit.

Rye United’s trip to Three Bridges in the FA Vase third round is also extremely doubtful, but there is some confusion over whether any rearranged game will take place next midweek or the following weekend.

Hastings United have given up on their idea of inviting the public to come along and help clear snow off The Pilot Field pitch as there is simply too much of it.

That’s not to say that the Ryman League Premier Division match at home to Folkestone Invicta won’t go ahead, but United will be relying on a rapid thaw over the next 48 hours.
