THE captains of West Sussex Golf Club hit a hole in one when they decided to raise money for the cancer day unit appeal at St Richard's Hospital, Chichester, on their charity day.

The appeal proved a widely popular choice, and more than 6,500 was donated before ever a ball was played.

Captains David Todd and Rosemary Kilshaw were further delighted when generous members and friends of the Pulborough club raised more than 14,500 on the day itself. Twenty one teams of four took part in the golf competition which formed the centrepiece of the Captains' Charity Day.
