Sedlescombe Golf Club duo Carol Ticehurst and Lindy Montandon, who have qualified for the National Grand Final of the American Golf Ladies' Championship

The pair will take their place at former Ryder Cup venue The Belfry on September 9-10 to battle it out over the Brabazon Course for the title of best ladies’ pair in the UK.

Carol and Lindy played some superb golf to win a tough area qualifying competition at Rustington Golf Club. They came in with 51 points under the betterball stableford format - five ahead of their closest rivals.

This convincing victory sets them up as one of the pre-tournament favourites for the showpiece final. Other qualifiers for the final were runners-up Charlotte Hinge and Celine Graciet, from Brighton & Hove Golf Club, and third-placed Maggie Hopkins and Sarah Cooper Olsen, from Rustington and Worthing Golf Clubs.

Entry to all of the American Golf Championships, including the American Golf Ladies’ Championship, is free and is part of the nationwide retailer’s drive to promote the game and get more people out playing golf more often.
