Goring go with Gus

GORING skipper Gus McVey ensured his side will enter the second half of the season with greater self-respect this weekend.

He compiled an unbeaten 46 with a six and five fours in providing on Saturday the backbone to his side's winning reply from 28 for four at home to table-proppers Southwick.

It was a must-win game for both sides and his side turned on the requisite bowling performance that had Southwick striving to survive '” a task adopted with sheer defiance by Dan Feniuk whose unbeaten 32 at No 4 lasted 118 balls.

McVey paid tribute to his attack: "Dan Geere bowled magnificently early on, Peter Rebera came on and conceded only 20 runs off his 15 overs, I managed to concede only four off my four and Matt Sheppard gave great support. There was some very good fielding, too, especially from Gareth Cook and Andy Rebera."
