Horsham bowls round-up: London Bowling Association is dispatched

Horsham IBC shared the rinks three apiece but came out on top 124-116 against London Southern Counties Bowling Association this week.

Top rink went to Ron Backhouse, Tom Whittington, Jack Stocker and Dick Starbuck in the win.

The were two rink wins in the match against Worthing, but Horsham’s gents suffered a 110-92 loss. The pick of those wins was Ray Knight, John Peers, Jim Johnson and Colin Watson (19-14).

And also this week, Horsham IBC’s ladies went close against Denton Island, going down by three shots. The top of their two winning rinks went to Jill Pendrill, Fran Baillie, Angie Fenton and skip Dorothy Armstrong 23-11.

Meanwhile, in short mat bowls, Southwater Wasps took two points from their home match against Downsman in the West Sussex County League N.E. Division 2. This came courtesy of winning rink of Ruth Corcoran, Judy Butler, Brian French and skip Lila Dawes who recorded a +2 win. Meanwhile, on a friendly mat against the same opposition, Southwater enjoyed a handsome 16-shot win.
