Look at us now- all thanks to our Laura

WHEN Laura Battershill rescued a pony from slaughter 14 years ago it was a step that led to an ongoing commitment to saving and rehabilitating horses and ponies, giving them a purpose in life.

Laura (30), who lives in Shoreham, was born on a farm and surrounded by working horses. Equines have always played a major part in her life and she has worked as a private groom.

Last year the first pony she rescued, Vinny, died but had enjoyed 13 happy years in her care.

Today she cares for a horse and six ponies, all rescues, at her yard near Woodmancote and all of them enjoy a fulfilling life, competing, driving or acting as a companion to others.
