More honours for shooting great Digweed

The Northiam-based great won the Jack Pyke Pro Sport English Open 2011 at Sporting Targets in Bedfordshire.

Digweed produced a brilliant display of consistent shooting to finish one target ahead of Graham Strizaker with a score of 95 out of 100.

That success came hot on the heels of him finishing tied eighth at last weekend’s Compak Sporting European Championships 2011 in Tallinn, Estonia.

Digweed had scores of 24, 24, 23, 23, 23, 25, 25 and 24/25 for a total of 191/200 which put him three behind winner Christophe Auvret (France) and runner-up Marco Battisti (Italy).

It has been a busy but successful time for Digweed, who came joint fourth with 191/200 at the European FITASC Championships in Spain at the end of last month.

He won the Russian Grand Prix by a comfortable 12 targets in mid-May shortly after an extremely productive stay in the United States.

Digweed won three gold medals – in the 5-Stand, High Overall Classic and Sporting – and silver - in the FITASC – from four events at the Rio Brazos Hunting Preserve in Simonton, Texas.

That followed his 19th world title at the World English Sporting Championships in a blisteringly hot San Antonio over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend.
