Perfect conditions for seafront 5k

GLORIOUS weather greeted more than 200 entrants for the second of the summer's 5K races along the seafront.

Warm sunshine and a gentle easterly breeze provided ideal conditions for race two of Bexhill Runners' Seafront Six on Wednesday, last week.

And the competitors took full advantage by recording some marvellous times along the two-lap course from Bexhill Sailing Club to the western end of Galley Hill.

Eastbourne Rovers' Scott Harris was the winner in a time of 16 minutes and four seconds, some 13 seconds clear of Daniel Anderson (Hastings AC).

In a well organised and marshalled race, the first woman across the line was Sam Alvarez, of Hailsham Harriers, in 19.07. Like Harris, she collected 50 for her efforts.

A sizeable contingent of Bexhill Runners was led by Conrad Sparks, who came 11th in 18.08. Andrew Woods and Danny Garbett were also in the top 20.

Race three of The Seafront Six will again take place over 5 kilometres on Wednesday July 26. To enter visit www.bexhillrunners.co.uk
