PYECOMBE WINS SOUTHDOWNS TROPHY
CLUBS from the South Downs area of Sussex took part last week in the annual Southdowns Golf Trophy, in which ladies' teams competed for the Southdowns Trophy.
The event was held at Pyecombe Golf Club this year.
The first ones out had a very foggy and difficult start but the weather soon improved and the course was in excellent condition.
The trophy was won by the Pyecombe Team consisting of Aileen Greenfield, Alison Vermes, Sarah Godfrey, Sheila Pearce and Sue Baker with a gross score of 224.
In joint second place were The Dyke and West Hove, who were equal second with 237.
Alison Vermes won the prize for best handicap score with 74 on countback from Sarah Godfrey.
