Rooks' replay on Tuesday

Lewes Football Club's frustrating season continued on Tuesday evening with the late postponement of the Sussex Senior Cup quarter-final replay at Horsham's Queen Street ground.

'I was at the ground at 2pm with Horsham manager John Maggs and the pitch looked okay with just a bit of surface water on it, then a linesman inspected the ground at 4pm and gave the all clear.

'It then poured down for an hour and the pitch was like a pond when the referee called off the game at 6.30pm.

'It was annoying because the players and a number of supporters had turned up.

'And we had postponed the league fixture at Basingstoke to make way for the game.'

The replay will now be staged next Tuesday, with the Rooks hoping to rearrange the home league match against Fisher Athletic (scheduled for Wednesday evening) on Wednesday, March 14.

King is hoping to have a full squad available for Saturday's Conference South fixture at Dorchester.

The Supporters' Forum, scheduled for Tuesday at the Dripping Pan, has been switched to Wednesday, starting at 7pm, due to the fixture switch.
