Saints miss chance to go top

ST LEONARDS missed a chance to go top of the Sussex League on Wednesday night when they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Three Bridges.

Despite trailing to a controversial yet correctly awarded 27th minute penalty, the game was there for the taking once Jamie Edwards was harshly sent off for a late challenge on Greg Nessling seven minutes later.

An own goal by Bridges' Andy Turner seven minutes into the second period should have been the catalyst for Saints to claim all three points but their narrow, direct approach was meat and drink for an experience and well-drilled away defence.
