Sidley stretch advantage over basement boys

SIDLEY have stretched their advantage over Pulborough in the fight to avoid finishing rock bottom in the Sussex Cricket League.

Sidley picked up two points more than their opponents despite heavy rain forcing the abandonment of this Division Two basement battle.

This result means Sidley lie 13 points ahead of Pulborough with three weeks of the season remaining.

Good knocks from Sami Ullah (97 not out) and Jonathan Haffenden (58 not out) saw Sidley to 215-3 from 48 overs when play was brought to a halt.

Bexhill reached 222-8 declared in their match against Cuckfield with John Holland hitting 47 and Richard Harrison 41 not out. In reply, Cuckfield eased to 87-0 when the rain came. Like Sidley, Bexhill collected 10 points and their opponents had to make do with eight.
