Town feel the pinch

STRUGGLING football club Bexhill Town are in financial trouble, it was revealed this week.

With just three home games played since the beginning of December the lowly Sussex County Division Three side are currently running at a deficit of around 1,000.

Chairman Del Longley said: "Clubs like us don t run at a profit and it only takes a couple of missed games to get in trouble because there has been no supporters through our gates.

"Our league position doesn t help much but I don t see why we can t play two home games and two away games like most other leagues."

County secretary Paul Beard said the league was aware of the problem and would try to help Town with the fixtures: "I have written to them since our last meeting on Thursday.

"We try and make sure each team has a game every week but we can t always please everyone. We are sympathetic to their situation but cannot change the January schedule."

Town are planning a club night on February 2 to raise funds and would welcome anyone who wishes to attend.
